Project 2 Stage 1 brief

RESEARCH

Project Two – Stage One = 10% of the module mark.

Produce a professionally presented document, site model and concept model(s) / sketch(es), which together sum up the development and research of your concept, site and brief.

Outline of requirements (in no particular order)

1.              Introduction

State the aim of the project.

2.              Concept                    Include:

                                                      -                 Origins of the concept

                                                      -                 Research behind the concept

                                                      -                 Initial concept model(s) 2 workshop days, 2^nd & 5^th December

3.              Site and Context

Investigate a number of sites, review and analyse them.  Choose one that you believe best fits your project.

                                   

Include:

-                 Site Options

-                 Chosen Site

-                 Site Review / Analysis (i.e. historical maps, photographs)

-                 Site Context

-                 Existing plans / sections

-                 Site model (card at 1:100)

4.              Brief                                            Include:

                                                      -                 Profile of users / initial space planning

                                                      -                 Profile of space requirements

                                                      -                 Interviews

-                 Precedent studies

Initial concept models / sketches should indicate the way in which you wish to explore your project.  Unlike your dissertation, where you must produce a prescriptive quantity of work, Stage One is about producing a visual / web-links / you tube clips / written document which, through a ‘process of thought and development’, will form the basis of your Main Project.

The first page of ‘Stage One’ should commence with a succinct ‘statement’ (using only one sentence) which will define your whole project ready for the beginning of Stage Two.

Make sure, like your dissertation you include a ‘context page’ and ‘page numbering’ so that your document reads well. 

Requirements for Final Review

The final ‘Stage One Document’ should be saved as a single PDF and submitted into the electronic dropbox by 2pm.  The front page should have your ‘full name + NTU number’ and ‘Stage One’ printed on the front cover in addition to your title and possible images.
