A collection of hides away from the main RSPB visitor centre, this project will deal with the interaction between a forceful concrete structure sitting upon a man made shingle swamp and the natural wildlife engrossing it.

FUNCTION: wildlife observation

breaks in corridor to create sense of detachment and privacy from main build

submerged area is larger - secretive - lockers and access to individual watchboxes

encouragement of marshland into structure - line between new and old is mixed

 

GF on arrival

new footbridge to encourage more direct flow = less damage to nesting birds

a centre for bird watchers and general public alike

maintain transparency - don't become too heavy/bulky

simplify function - this is not a business plan this is a piece of architecture

restaurant to rest - avoid the underlying activity
